Altered Initial Frame

Happy May Everyone!
I've been wanting to share this frame I created for my daughter's room a longggg time ago. Actually, way before she was born, like in August. I know, I know... but I totally forgot about it and then found the pictures in a file on my computer. Sorry!

The frame itself is from Ikea and I left it as is. The only thing I did do was remove the glass that was on the inside. There was no use in keeping it, I didn't need it.

I started by painting the background cardboard a creamy white colour. I added a super large doily on top of that. Then I purchased some wood letters. I painted them a super soft pink with acrylic paint and lined the perimeter of them with flat back pearl trim. The M in the background is in a soft pink and the A and V are white.

I placed more flat back pearl trim around the frame, added some die cuts, fabric rosettes, IAR mulberry flowers and some acrylic pieces I still had left from MB's Treasurista. I also added some tiny crocheted doilies with pearl centers around the frame, mostly in the flower clusters.

The finishing touch for me was the addition of the MS punched butterflies. they just added a bit of whimsy to the entire piece.

This frame hangs in my daughter's room, above her crib. Her entire room is light grey and shades of pink... kindy shabby chic in style... kinda.
It was a joy and pleasure to create it for her and I hope that she'll cherish it always.

Thanks so much for stopping by and seeing what I have to share with you all :) Have a good one!

Shabby Chic Hot Air Balloon

Hi Friends! I hope you're all well!
I know it's been a while since my last project but I'm back!
Today, I want to share with you this super shabby hot air balloon. I was totally inspired by Miranda Edney and wanted to create a similar project of my own. Here's my final and end result...
Hope you like it!

It all began with making a template and cutting all my chipboard. I covered it all with paper and distressed all the edges. Then, I went to town with the embellishing. I had a blast decorating this gorgeous piece and am so pleased with the way it turned out! So shabby!

Altered Treat Box

Happy Friday!
Today, I wanted to share a project I created for Sweet Nothings Stamp Co. It's an altered treat box/purse. When I first saw this plain, black box, I knew it would be fun to alter and Balloon Sophie was just the right image to use. The paper collection I used is the Bazzil WayFarer collection. I fell in love with this paper once I got it in my hands. It's definitely a fun paper stack.

Here's what I created :
Like I mentioned, I used Balloon Sophie, and coloured her skin and hair using my Copics and paper pieced her dress, bow and balloons. I <3 the way she turned out! She's uber adorable!

I covered the box in various papers, added a cute pennant, twine, and some MS butterflies. I also created some paper rosettes using the same paper.

Finally, I created a flower cluster in the bottom right corner using some IAR and WOC mulberry flowers. In the background, I placed some MS Frond leaves.

I hope you enjoyed what I created this month. It was fun and I liked creating something different than the cards I have been making lately.
Thanks for stopping by!

Copic Coloring, Soap Bubble Sophie

Hey Everyone!
Today I wanted to share with you the way I Copic colour. Like I mention in my video, this may not be the correct or most common way, but it's my way. This is the way I colour. I've taught myself over the past few months... This is just my way. Take from it what you will.

You may learn something and you may not... :D

The digi image I'm using is from Sweet Nothings Stamp Co. She's Soap Bubble Sophie and a new release for the month of June. Super cute and fun to colour.
You can find the stamp here: http://sweetnothingsstampco.com

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I'm always around :)

Spring Time Shadow Box

Happy Hump Day Everyone!

Today, I wanted to share a project I created... A spring time shadow box. I created the entire project from scratch, all from chipboard. That includes the tree. I am so proud of the tree, it turned out better than how I imagined! The only thing I did not create was the little birdie. But, that's not saying I didn't try :P But, even still, I did mess with it a bit and altered it slightly. I added some Glitter Ritz glitter and toned down the bright pink colour a bit. I also yanked some of the feather's from the bird and added them on the tail instead. It just looks better.

The nest is made with Spanish Moss that I kinda hot glued together. The leaves are punched from my MS Frond punch, my fave! The little white picket fence is just cut chipboard all hot glued and painted together. Super fun!

I loved making this! It let me think outside of the box, excuse the pun! Hope you all enjoyed!

Grungy Chipboard Photo Frame

Hi Ladies,

Today I wanted to share my DT project for MB's Treasurista. I really worked outta my element and hope you like what I've created! I went for a colour scheme that I don't use too often and rolled with it.
I took raw chipboard and corrugated cardboard and created a photo frame from scratch. I distressed the cardboard and distress inked all of the edges with Walnut Stain.

Then, I adorned the front with a ton of goodies from the shop. I concentrated the "spray" of embellishments to the upper right and bottom left corners of the frame.

Shadow Box Card: Balloon Sophie

Heya Everybody!

Today, I wanted to share a shadow box card I created with the ever so adorable Balloon Sophie. This shadow box was super simple to make with a light weight chipboard base and the new MME paper. Balloon Sophie was an obvious choice for me with this card.. she's one of my faves!

She's all coloured up with Copics and finishing touches were added to her earrings with itty bitty baby pearls I had in my stash. I cut around her (very carefully ;)) and popped her up on dimensionals. I decided I wasn't going to cut around the balloon strings because I wanted to use embroidery floss to give them more character. Overall, she's adorable and totally makes this card! Lastly, I used my clear Spica pen to add some sparkle to her balloons. I hope you enjoyed reading and watching as much as I enjoyed making it :D

MBT- Note Card Box with Cards

Hey Everyone!

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend!
I wanted to share a project I created for MB's Treasurista.
I created this entire 4x4 box from scratch using chipboard and decorated it using lots of trim and embellishments from the MBT shop. The feel of this project is vintage and has such a warm feeling to it. I just love the way it turned out!

For the cards on the inside, I left them very generic so that they could be used for any occasion. Score! The recipient of this box will be able to use the cards for whatever reason, and, for the most part, with the colours I used, the cards could be given to either males or females. Love that! I am also loving how cute and compact they are. They measure 3 3/4 x 3 3/4. Cute!

Here's my project:

Here's what I used from the awesome MBT:
6x6 Glitz Paper Pack- French Kiss
Cream Drapery Trim
White Flatback Pearls
Tear drop Pearl Stick Pins
Copper Flower Bead Caps

Teach Me Tuesday: Satin Ruffle Trim Embellishment

Welcome everyone to the MB's Treasurista Teach Me Tuesday! This Tuesday, I'll be showing you how to create a Satin Ruffle Trim embellishment. Super easy and quick to create with only a few supplies.

Here's what you'll need:
1. 2 x 12'' pieces of ruffled satin trim.
2. 1 piece of 12'' x 1/2'' piece of chipboard.
3. 12'' of decorative trim.

Here's how to make it:

1. With your glue gun, glue down your satin ruffled trim to one side of your chipboard. I chose to make my pieces 12 inches long but you don't have to. If you wanted to use this for a card, just cut it all shorter.

2. With your glue gun again, take your second piece of satin ruffled trim and glue it right beside your first piece of trim. Your pieces of trim should be butted up as close together as you can. You don't want any large visible gaps.

3. Trim your edges. Then take your lighter and lightly melt your edges. This will secure your fabric and will keep your fabric edges from fraying.

4. Next, take your decorative trim and glue it down onto your seam. Do not add too much glue. You'll want it to be secure but not have glue seeping out of the edges.

Voila! you're done! Try this technique with laces and other trims for a completely different look!

Also, here are the links of the items I used to create these beautiful embellishments:
Ivory Satin Trim 7/8''
Black Ruffle Satin Trim
Flower Trim with Rhinestone Center in Lt. Pink
Mini Pearl Flower Trim in Lavender

Thanks for stopping by! Have fun and try this for yourself!
