Baby Shower Sugar Cookies

Heya Kids!
I know! I know! I haven't been here and posted anything in ages! What happened? Well, some of you may know that I'm pregnant, almost 9 months to be exact and to be honest, I haven't had the best or easiest pregnancy. Actually, as we speak, I'm writing and blogging from my comfy bed. That's right... I'm on bed rest! Sigh!

Just know that baby girl and I are just fine and I'm staying positive :)

In the meantime, I wanted to share a cookie favor I created for my own baby shower last month. They took me about 4 days to actually complete from start to finish. This included baking, to decorating (icing) to bagging.

I started out by baking the cookies. The recipe I used if an awesome one from Sweetopia. This is the actual sugar cookie recipe I used. God knows I'm not a baker but her recipe was so simple and easy to follow :)
I apologize in advance for the quality of my pictures. They were taken with my iphone and the lighting I was working in wasn't the greatest. That combo alone doesn't make for the best picture quality pictures :P

The cookie cutters I used were tea pots and tea cups. I bought them at a local baking supply store but you can use whatever cutter tickles your fancy. In this case I searched for these since my theme was "Tea Party".

After waiting ever so patiently (NOT) for them to cool, I iced them in Royal Icing. Again, the recipe is from Sweetopia. This is her Royal Icing recipe. Its the most perfect consistency and dried like a dream. I worked on parchment paper knowing full well how messy it could have gotten. That's my OCD kicking in! LOL!

Next, I got a little creative with the design. I must have come up with about 5-6 different designs. I wanted them to be all uniform and have a cohesive look but all still be a little different at the same time. I decided to used pink and aqua for the icing. I knew more colour would have driven me insane. Aha!

This was the final result. Everyone just loved them! Each person was given one as a place setting at their seat. It was a sweet touch and I liked the fact that some people decided to open the package then and there and eat them! I wasn't expecting that! LOL!
